Physiotherapists use a combination of manual techniques, exercises, and modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation to help patients manage pain, improve muscle strength and flexibility, and recover from injuries or surgeries.
Physiotherapy plays a vital role in rehabilitation and can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal injuries, neurological disorders, and chronic pain.
It aims to enhance a person's overall quality of life and functional independence.
Interferential - Interferential Electro-Therapy is a therapeutic treatment to aid in the relief of pain and the promotion of soft tissue healing. Interferential Therapy is most often used for pain relief and to aid in reducing the swelling of soft tissues.
Ligament sprains, muscle strains, inflammation and edema respond to this treatment well, helping to reduce pain, atrophy and increase blood circulation.
Interferential Therapy decreases local swelling, promotes muscle tone, restores normal movements, releases the body's natural healing pain killers, and accelerates the healing process.
Ultrasound - Ultrasound is a therapeutic treatment using high-frequency sound waves administered in the region of soft tissue and spinal injury. The sound waves increase blood flow, relax muscle spasms, massages damaged tissues and speeds healing process.
Ultrasound treatment is also highly effective in reducing calcium deposits and scar tissue. It stimulates healing without irritation, speeds metabolism and improves blood flow, reduces nerve root irritation and enhances the body's natural healing ability.
Electro-Muscle Stimulation - Electro-Muscle Stimulation is a special form of electrical current that is administered at the site of an injury, especially muscles, for the blocking of pain. EMS (Electro-Muscle Stimulation) has been used as an effective form of pain relief.
It is recommended in cases in which pain is accompanied by swelling, inflammation and muscle spasticity. EMS therapy reduces pain sensation, helps decrease swelling, promotes general muscle tone and speeds the healing process.
Cold Laser Therapy - This low level laser therapy (LLLT) is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissues to accelerate the healing process.
The laser is placed over the injured or damaged area for several minutes allowing the non thermal photons of light to penetrate 2-5 cm below the layers of the skin. Cells at the site of damage or injury then absorb the light frequency initiating a series of events that result in normalizing damaged tissue, a reduction in pain, inflammation, edema and an overall reduction in healing time.
Intersegmental Traction - Intersegmental Traction is a way of inducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility of the surrounding tissues.
Intersegmental Traction helps increase and restore necessary elasticity and motion to the spine, increase mobility, improve circulation of spinal fluids while comfortable and relaxing at the same time.
